My 3D body? Sci-fi fashion trends happening now.
I read a lot, any book, even if I hate it, I'll read it just for the experience, I kind of store up imaginary scenarios and worlds just because day dreams are more interesting when you've got something to start from.
In the past few years my dad and I have been bonding over sci-fi books. And in a lot of them the characters have variations of the tattoo, spinning, morphing, insane colours, symbolism, all shapes and sizes... you get the picture.
So when I saw this picture I thought "well we are already in the 21st century, and many sci-fi writers expected us to be way more spacey and kooky than we actually are at this point in time, but is this the first step to achieving that vision of the future?"

Yep, 3D body art. It has been around for a little while but this...kinda...unsettles me.
See, there's 3D tattooing which makes it LOOK like the image in 3D, and then theres this. Implanting silicone etc in your body to create lumbs and bumps as you please.

(photos from various sources through own google partying)
In theory, I like the idea, fashions and trends progress and evolve and I suppose that body implants like this was the natural direction to go in. But....walking down the street and seeing people with lumps in places there should be lumps in shapes that shouldn't be seen on the human body....its a little creepy. The alienesque qualities would be fun for halloween, sure, but in the long run? I assume these implants can be taken out but it cant be good for the body to be cutting up and closing up the body again and again.
Also, how is this any different from breast implants? Or booty implants? It's all putting silicone in your body to change your appearance, isn't it?
And whats more, imagine hugging someone, your boyfriend or girlfriend, and feeling lumps on their back in the shape on a cat face etc. Thats what gives me the shivers the most.
What do you think? I would really love to hear what you guys have to say about this one.
Is this a trend to stay?
Is it any different from the boob jobs that we so openly condemn in the media?
