Sundae School: High Renaissance Queen
School being the reason that I haven't been online this past week, well, that and the fact that I've been suffering from Festival Flu for some days now, in any case posting is going to be a little hard for a while because my school IT department refuse to connect my laptop to the wi-fi because it is a Mac. Whatever. I have escaped to the local coffee shop to steal their wi-fi (I bought some tea I am entitled to a bit of web surfing)

Im kicking off this sunday with an education moment for you all. I have publicly stated on forums and in discussions my dislike for 20th Century Art, I all but hate anything from the 1890's onwards, so what, I hear you ask, is my favourite period? Well of course I love the Renaissance, but it's all a bit too religious for me, I also like a lot of Baroque art work but thats far too over the top for my day to day enjoyment, my favourite two periods would have to be the Rococo period and the Romanticism period.

But I digress, today I have a stunning editorial for your eyes, inspired by the beauty of Renaissance art, a period I studied in depth in my one year Art History course. I love the the darkness, the elegance, the waves of the models hair, her serene yet regal expressions that reflect perfectly the practiced poses of the subjects of art at the time, not to mention the clothes. Renaissance art subjects were very much restrained, there was no frivolous activity, no laughter or fun or energy or passion (one of the reasons that i love Romanticism so much is that it has so many different forms of energy). These pictures capture exactly what a renaissance painting would be it if was captured by one of the great masters of the time by a camera.
This is too much talk for a sunday, so have a look.

Which one is your favourite?
What is your favourite period of art / piece of art?
Im thinking of changing my screen name to 'Renaissance Queen', good or bad idea?
